Hey, I’m Kristin Jones! I’m a senior portrait photographer with nearly 20 years of experience creating bold, cinematic portraits that actually look like you.

I spent most of my life in Maple Grove, Minnesota, where I built my business photographing seniors all across the Twin Cities. A couple of years ago I made the leap and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah — and honestly, I’m obsessed with it. The locations here are unlike anything I’ve ever shot.

These days I’m based in Utah year-round and head back to Minneapolis every summer, because once a Twin Cities girl, always a Twin Cities girl. Two incredible places, one photographer who knows them both really well.

I specialize in bold, cinematic senior portraits that blend editorial style with genuine connection. Using a combination of natural light, flash, and creative gel lighting, I create images that are striking and unique. My signature PAC Posing System guides every client so you always know what to do and feel confident in front of the camera. Most senior sessions run between 2-4 hours depending on the number of locations, outfit changes, and the scope of the session. I build in plenty of time so you never feel rushed and we can capture a wide variety of looks and settings.

I recommend booking 2-4 months in advance, especially for fall Utah sessions and summer Minneapolis sessions. My calendar fills quickly for peak seasons — fall colors in Utah and summer wildflower season at Albion Basin book especially fast. Reach out early to get your preferred date.

Booking is easy! Simply fill out the contact form and I will send you a full pricing guide and available dates. I recommend reaching out 2-4 months before your ideal session date to secure your spot, especially for peak seasons in Utah and Minneapolis.

That said, don’t let timing stop you from reaching out! If you’re only a week or two out, go ahead and contact me anyway — I’ve booked several last-minute sessions here in Utah and Minneapolis and may have an opening that works perfectly for you.

Senior year flies by — and whatever your budget looks like, I want to help you capture it in a way that feels real and lasting. I send full pricing details in a welcome email after you fill out my contact form, so we can talk through what the right experience looks like for your family.

Every session includes digital images, and many families add a custom album or wall art — because five years from now, when your kid is off living their life, you’re going to want something you can actually pull off the shelf or look up at. Something real. Fill out my contact form and let’s talk!

It varies a lot depending on the photographer! On the lower end you might find photographers charging $200–$500. I fall in the mid-range to higher end — with sessions starting at $600 and going up from there depending on the experience and products you choose.

I believe every senior deserves great photos, whatever your budget looks like. What stays the same no matter what you invest is 15 years of experience, beautiful digital images, and a session that actually feels fun. And if you want to add an album or something for your wall? I can do that for you.

Absolutely! Every session includes full planning support from start to finish — wardrobe tips, location recommendations, what to bring, and how to prepare. I want your session to feel true to your personality so we spend time upfront making sure everything works together perfectly.

Once you’re booked, we’ll do an online planning consultation before your session so we have your locations and outfits all figured out ahead of time. That way when picture day arrives, we’re not winging it — we’re just having fun and making great photos.

Don’t stress about this one — I’ve got you covered! Once you’re booked, I send you detailed styling guidance as part of your session prep. But the short answer is: bring outfits that feel like you — pieces you actually wear, feel confident in, and that photograph well. Don’t worry too much about that last part though, because I’ll help you figure that out before your session! Most important, wear what you love not what you think you are “supposed to wear” for senior pictures.

Most sessions include 2–4 outfit changes depending on your package. And if you have something you love — a sport, an instrument, a pet, a car, a hobby — bring it! Your senior pictures should show the whole you, not just one version of you dressed up for a camera.

Absolutely! Senior guys are some of my favorite sessions. I have three sons of my own, so I totally get it — not every guy is dying to stand in front of a camera. But I know exactly how to work with that, and by the end of the session most guys are genuinely having a good time.

Every guy’s session flows a little differently depending on personality and what they’re into. Whether it’s urban streets, sports, hobbies, scenic outdoor settings, or something totally unique to you — I tailor every session to feel authentic to who you actually are. No stiff poses, no awkward smiling — just bold, confident portraits that look like you.

Yes! In addition to senior portraits I also offer family sessions and professional headshots for business, LinkedIn, and personal branding in the Salt Lake City area. Reach out through my website to learn more about these sessions.

Utah is an incredible backdrop for creative senior pictures — from the dramatic white expanse of the Salt Flats to wildflowers at Albion Basin, the Pink Lake, canyon walls, and everything in between. There’s really nowhere else like it for senior portraits.

But creative doesn’t just mean the location — it’s also about incorporating you into the session. Your sport, your hobby, your car, your pet, your vibe. The best senior pictures feel like you on your best day, not a generic photo shoot. Check out this post on creative senior pictures in Utah for ideas and inspiration!

Utah offers stunning senior picture opportunities year round. Spring brings wildflowers and green landscapes, summer offers golden hour light and Albion Basin wildflowers, fall delivers incredible foliage and warm tones, and winter offers dramatic snowy mountain backdrops. I shoot year round so there is never a bad time to book. Some seniors even add on extra sessions to take advantage of multiple seasons!

I have a primary studio in American Fork but I also work with several professional studio spaces in the Salt Lake City and Utah County area that I rent for studio sessions. This means you get a fresh, professional studio environment without the overhead costs being passed on to you. Most of my sessions are on location outdoors.

Yes! I offer studio sessions. Studio sessions are perfect for clean, modern, editorial looks and work beautifully combined with an outdoor location session for maximum variety.

Yes! I photograph seniors throughout the greater Salt Lake area including Park City and Summit County. The mountain scenery in that area makes for stunning senior portraits.

Yes! Albion Basin in Little Cottonwood Canyon is one of my favorite Utah senior picture locations. Every summer the wildflowers explode into full bloom creating a breathtaking natural backdrop. Wildflower season typically runs late July through mid August and these sessions book extremely fast. If you want Albion Basin senior pictures reach out early to secure your spot!

Yes! The Bonneville Salt Flats are one of my most requested Utah senior picture locations. The vast white expanse creates a dramatic, otherworldly backdrop unlike anything else. The reflections after rain are absolutely stunning and create incredibly unique images. The Salt Flats are located in Tooele County about 90 minutes from Salt Lake City and are worth every mile for the photos we create there. The Pink Lake is located on the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The naturally pink colored water creates a stunning and unique backdrop for senior pictures that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s a unique experience!

Yes! I lived in the Twin Cities for nearly 20 years — Maple Grove was home for a long time — so Minneapolis will always have a special place in my heart. I return every summer to photograph seniors, and I’m based in the Salt Lake City area year-round.

Minneapolis has so many amazing spots for creative senior pictures — from the urban streets of downtown to beautiful parks, lakes, and gardens throughout the Twin Cities. The key is finding locations and concepts that actually feel like you, not just the same spots everyone else uses.

I love getting creative with my Minneapolis seniors — whether that’s unique lighting, fun props, incorporating a hobby or passion, or finding a location that tells your story. Check out this post on creative senior pictures in Minneapolis for ideas and inspiration!

I serve the entire Twin Cities metro area during my summer sessions, including Minneapolis, St. Paul, Maple Grove, Edina, Bloomington, and surrounding suburbs. I have been photographing seniors in the Twin Cities for over 15 years and know all the best locations.

Maple Grove is an area I have a special connection to — I lived there for years and photographed so many seniors from the community, all across the Twin Cities. Check out this collection of Maple Grove senior sessions shot at some of my favorite Minneapolis locations!

Yes! In Minneapolis I offer a family session add-on to any senior session — a quick 15-minute family segment so you can get those all-together photos while everyone is already dressed and looking great. It’s the perfect way to squeeze in a family update without booking a whole separate session.

Just let me know when you reach out that you’d like to add this on and we’ll build it into your session day!

Absolutely — in fact I love it! I tailor every session to reflect your personality, hobbies, and style. I have photographed seniors at unique destinations including Hawaii, Las Vegas, Florida, and more. If you have a dream location in mind, reach out and let’s make it happen.

Yes! I love destination senior sessions and have photographed seniors in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, and more. I would love to shoot in New York City, Paris, London, or Rome. If you have a dream destination in mind reach out and let’s make it happen.

Yes! Teaching other photographers is a huge part of what I do. In addition to photographing seniors and headshots, I speak at several photography conferences each year and have taught hundreds of photographers across the country how to pose and light their clients with confidence.

I specialize in helping senior photographers create bold, cinematic images — and I run my own educational conference specifically for senior photographers who want to level up their business and their work.

If you’re a photographer looking to grow your skills, I’d love to connect. Reach out through my For Photographers page to learn more!

After your session we schedule a Zoom ordering appointment to finalize your images and choose your favorites.

Most clients order digital images albums, prints.   I’ll walk you through everything so you can choose what feels right for your family. Every image you purchase comes with a full resolution digital file  so you can print them, share them, and keep them forever however you choose.

And if you want to add an album or wall art? I’m here to help.

Yes! Everyone needs a good, updated headshot — and I make it easy. I offer a quick LinkedIn-style session if you just need something clean and current, or a longer session with a couple of outfit changes and more variety if you need images for marketing, your website, speaking engagements, or personal branding. I have a beautiful studio space in American Fork which is perfect for all kinds of headshots.

Both options are shot with the same professional lighting and posing guidance I use for all my sessions — so you’ll actually look like yourself on your best day, not stiff and awkward in front of a camera.

What you wear makes a huge difference in your headshots — the right outfit can make you look polished, confident, and like the best version of yourself. The wrong one can be distracting.

A few quick tips: stick to solid colors, avoid busy patterns, and bring a couple of options so we have variety. Form-fitting looks great on camera, and layers like a blazer or cardigan add a professional touch. Think about what you actually wear in your work life — your headshot should match the environment you’re in.

I send all my headshot clients a detailed what-to-wear guide when they book so you’re never guessing. Just show up ready and I’ll take care of the rest!
