Senior portraits by Any Angle Photography in Utah and Minneapolis

Everything You Need to Know About Senior Pictures with Any Angle Photography (Utah & Minneapolis)

Your questions, answered — from booking and pricing to locations, outfits, and what to expect on picture day.

Senior year goes fast. If you’re a high school senior (or the parent of one) trying to figure out how senior pictures work, what they cost, and how to find the right photographer — this post is for you.

I’m Kristin Jones, the photographer behind Any Angle Photography. I’ve been photographing seniors for nearly 20 years, based in Salt Lake City, Utah and traveling to Minneapolis, Minnesota every summer. Below I’m answering every question I get asked — so you can go from curious to confident and ready to book.

Who is the photographer at Any Angle Photography?

I’m Kristin Jones — a senior portrait photographer with almost 20 years of experience creating bold, cinematic portraits that actually look like you.

I spent most of my life in Maple Grove, Minnesota, where I built my business photographing seniors across the Twin Cities. A few years ago I made the move to Salt Lake City, Utah, and I’m obsessed with it — the locations here are unlike anything I’ve ever shot. These days I’m based in Utah year-round and head back to Minneapolis every summer, because once a Twin Cities girl, always a Twin Cities girl.

What makes Any Angle Photography different from other senior photographers?

A few things set my work apart:

Cinematic, editorial style. My images are bold and intentional — not generic or cookie-cutter. I use a mix of natural light, off-camera flash, and creative gel lighting to create portraits that are striking and unique.

My PAC Posing System. I developed my own posing approach specifically so clients always know what to do in front of the camera. No stiff, awkward poses — just confident, natural-looking portraits.

Full planning support. Every session comes with wardrobe guidance, location recommendations, and a pre-session planning consultation so picture day feels fun, not stressful.

Real experience. Nearly 20 years. Hundreds of seniors. I’ve seen every personality type, every lighting situation, every location challenge — and I know how to make great photos happen no matter what.

How much do senior pictures cost?

How much does Any Angle Photography charge for senior pictures?

I send full pricing details after you fill out my contact form — that way we can talk through what the right experience looks like for your family. Sessions start at $600 and go up depending on the experience and products you choose. Every session includes digital images.

How much do senior pictures cost in general?

Prices vary a lot depending on the photographer. On the lower end you’ll find photographers charging $200–$500. Mid-range to higher-end photographers (like me) typically start at $600 and up. What you’re paying for at the higher end is experience, a proven process, and images that hold up over time.

Whatever your budget, reach out — I want to make sure you get great photos of this moment.

How far in advance should I book?

I recommend booking 2–4 months in advance, especially for:

  • Fall Utah sessions — fall colors book extremely fast
  • Albion Basin wildflower sessions — wildflower season runs late July through mid-August and fills up quickly
  • Summer Minneapolis sessions — I’m only in the Twin Cities for a limited window each summer

That said, don’t let timing stop you from reaching out. I’ve booked last-minute sessions that turned out beautifully. If you’re only a week or two out, contact me anyway — I may have an opening.

How do I book a senior session?

Fill out the contact form on my website. I’ll send you a full pricing guide and available dates. From there, we’ll schedule a planning consultation to map out your locations and outfits before picture day.

How long is a senior photo session?

Most sessions run 2–4 hours depending on the number of locations, outfit changes, and scope of the session. I build in plenty of time so you never feel rushed and we can capture a wide variety of looks.

What should I wear for senior pictures?

Don’t stress — I’ve got you covered. Once you’re booked, I send you detailed styling guidance. But here’s the short version:

  • Wear outfits that feel like you — pieces you actually wear and feel confident in
  • Plan for 2–4 outfit changes depending on your package
  • Bring anything that represents you: a sport, an instrument, a pet, a car, a hobby
  • Most important: wear what you love, not what you think you’re “supposed” to wear for senior pictures

Your senior pictures should show the whole you, not just one version of you dressed up for a camera.

Do you photograph senior guys?

Absolutely — and honestly, senior guys are some of my favorite sessions. I have three sons, so I get it. Not every guy is dying to stand in front of a camera. But I know how to work with that, and by the end of the session most guys are genuinely having a good time.

Whether it’s urban streets, sports, hobbies, scenic outdoor settings, or something unique to you — I tailor every session to feel authentic. No stiff poses, no awkward smiling — just bold, confident portraits that look like you.

Do you help with planning the session?

Yes — completely. Every session includes full planning support from start to finish: wardrobe tips, location recommendations, and a pre-session planning consultation so we have everything figured out before picture day. When the day arrives, we’re not winging it — we’re just having fun and making great photos.

How do I receive my final images?

After your session we schedule a Zoom ordering appointment to go through your images together and choose your favorites. Every image you purchase comes with a full-resolution digital file so you can print, share, and keep them however you choose. Many families also add a custom album or wall art — something you can actually pull off the shelf five years from now.

Utah is stunning year-round:

  • Spring — wildflowers and green landscapes
  • Summer — golden hour light, Albion Basin wildflowers (late July–mid August)
  • Fall — incredible foliage and warm tones
  • Winter — dramatic snowy mountain backdrops

There’s never a bad time to book. Some seniors even do multiple sessions to take advantage of different seasons.

Do you do senior pictures at Albion Basin?

Yes! Albion Basin in Little Cottonwood Canyon is one of my favorite locations. The wildflowers in late July through mid-August are breathtaking — and these sessions book extremely fast. Reach out early if you want Albion Basin photos.

Do you do senior pictures at the Salt Flats?

Yes! The Bonneville Salt Flats are one of my most requested locations. The vast white expanse creates a dramatic, otherworldly backdrop unlike anything else — and the reflections after rain are absolutely stunning. The Salt Flats are about 90 minutes from Salt Lake City and worth every mile. See a Salt Flats senior session here.

What is the Pink Lake and where is it?

The Pink Lake is located on the Great Salt Lake in Utah. The naturally pink-colored water creates a stunning, completely unique backdrop for senior pictures that you won’t find anywhere else.

Do you have a studio in Utah?

Yes — I have a primary studio in American Fork and work with professional studio spaces throughout Salt Lake and Utah County. Studio sessions are perfect for clean, modern, editorial looks and work beautifully paired with an outdoor session for maximum variety.

Do you photograph seniors in Park City?

Yes! I photograph seniors throughout the greater Salt Lake area including Park City and Summit County. The mountain scenery there makes for stunning senior portraits.

Where do you take senior pictures in Minneapolis?

What areas of Minneapolis do you serve?

I serve the entire Twin Cities metro area during my summer sessions, including Minneapolis, St. Paul, Maple Grove, Edina, Bloomington, and surrounding suburbs. I photographed seniors in the Twin Cities for over 15 years and know all the best locations. Maple Grove holds a special place for me — I lived there for years and photographed so many seniors from that community.

What are creative senior picture ideas in Minneapolis?

Minneapolis has so many great spots — from the urban streets of downtown to beautiful parks, lakes, and gardens throughout the Twin Cities. I love getting creative with my Minneapolis seniors through unique lighting, fun props, and locations that tell your story. See creative Minneapolis senior picture ideas here.

Do you offer family sessions in Minneapolis?

Yes! In Minneapolis I offer a family session add-on to any senior session — a quick 15-minute family segment so you can get those all-together photos while everyone is already dressed and looking great. Just let me know when you reach out that you’d like to add this on.

Can I do senior pictures at a unique or destination location?

Absolutely — I love it. I’ve photographed seniors in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Florida, Iowa, Missouri, and more. If you have a dream location in mind, reach out and let’s make it happen.

Do you offer other photography services?

Yes! In addition to senior portraits I offer:

  • Professional headshots in the Salt Lake City area (LinkedIn, branding, business)
  • Family sessions in Utah and as an add-on to Minneapolis senior sessions

Check out my headshot portfolio to see examples.

What should I wear for a headshot session?

Solid colors photograph better than busy patterns. Bring a couple of options for variety. Think about what you wear in your actual work life — your headshot should match your environment. A blazer or cardigan adds a professional touch. I send all headshot clients a detailed what-to-wear guide when they book.

Are you available for senior picture season in both Utah and Minneapolis?

Yes! I’m in Utah year-round and travel to Minneapolis every summer. So whether you’re a Utah senior looking for fall mountain sessions or a Twin Cities senior planning a summer shoot, I’ve got you covered.
